About Me
Chris “Chalky” Mitchell was commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst into the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers in 1986 and read for a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Royal Military College of Science.

He served for 20 years as an officer in the British Army holding a variety of command and staff appointments including returning to Sandhurst as a Platoon Commander, delivering 2 award winning projects within Tank Systems Support at DE&S and commanding 5 General Support Company, 3 Battalion REME, during Gulf War 2. During his time in the Army he also gained a Masters in Defence Technology (MA), a Master in Business Administration (MBA) and attained Chartered Engineer status within the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
On resigning from the Army Chris worked with Roxel UK Rocket Motors as the UK Business Development Director before moving to Marshall Land Systems in an operational role to set up a new equipment support department. He then moved to Lockheed Martin UK where he worked as the Deputy Director Business Development for Land Systems with responsibility for Land Platforms, C4ISTAR and Guided Weapons order intake.
In 2016 Chris embarked on forming his own defence consultancy business, Karvas Limited, named after his much loved Uncle who served as a Commander the Indian Navy. Karvas’s mission is to support businesses in delivering success, identify opportunities and shaping customer requirements through their close relationships in defence, clear understanding of how the defence and aerospace market operates. In particular Karvas understands the customer’s procurement and requirements setting process and is able to ensure that companies don’t miss opportunities and are able to shape requirements to provide better “Win” positions for their clients. Karvas uses its unique and unrivalled access to both the Defence Equipment & Support and Army Headquarters decision makers in order to ensure that their customers are able to focus their efforts on winning opportunities while ensuring that the ultimate client, the “Warfighter” gets the best equipment and support services, because Karvas never forgets that it is the “Warfighter” that the defence sector has to focus on.
